DeMille's Saying Hi

hello everyone. just sitting here at work but trying as hard as i can to not get anything done. i did want to thank bishop ris, allyson, and their family for putting up with us over the 4th of july week. we had a great time. of course, anytime i can take cash from the bishop on the golf course is a good time for me. and the street long fireworks display was a blast. that was cool. here are a couple of pics over there in sultan.

leighton is doing very well after her surgery. she's supposed to stay calm for a week or so but she's tired of that and tries to run around with the other kids all day. i keep having to tell her to follow my example and plant her butt on the couch and do nothing. my sister sent her flowers, a teddy bear, and a balloon as a get well gift. see picture.

not to scare justin or anything, but the boys and i are starting to get into this fishing stuff. we've gone out to fishtrap lake twice in the past month or so and it's been great. here are some pictures of the monsters we've been pulling out of that lake.

Bar-B-Q Blessings

We enjoyed a fun weekend with Blake and Jodi's family. They were in town for the graduation of Blake's niece, Jordan DeMille. Blake's dad and his wife were in town for the occasion. Also his sister Lauren, her husband Damon and their six month old daughter (what a cutie!). We were invited to Jordan's barbeque and had a good time visiting and eating lots of yummy food. Neil and I took Jacob, Curtis and Leighton home with us while Blake, Jodi and Ava went to the graduation. It was nice to have some "grandma time" with these great kids! Earlier in the day, we passed out fudgesicles, and were amazed at how far Ava was able to spread the chocolate over her face! We got a good picture, hopefully we can share! Jodi and I found some real bargains when we went yard-saling early Saturday morning! I got two pairs of shoes for $1.00! I also bought a stool to go with Kelli's makeup shelf (which reminds me, I still owe Jodi for that purchase!). Emily joined us for part of the time and also gave Jodi a haircut at her salon. Poor Blake got put to work helping Neil load and unload several bales of hay. It was a very hot day for any manual labor. We broke into the triple digits on Saturday.
Wish everyone could have stayed longer, but we appreciated the time we had and look forward to our next opportunity.
With our ward picnic on Friday night, the graduation barbeque on Saturday, a birthday picnic for Rose Thompson and her grandson Sunday and a FHE potluck tonight, that's four days in a row that I've had the blessing of sharing a meal with family and friends! It hasn't helped with my diet, but it's been wonderful!
We are really looking forward to Madi's baptism on Saturday! Matt says he'll be here from Portland and I'm excited to see him. Merrilee will be in Las Vegas where she's receiving some special recognition from her work. More family time....FABULOUS!!
Ashton "talked" to me for a few minutes during my phone call to Lezlie. She says he's getting braver all the time with his walking. She also reported that Ethan feels really good about the last test for his CPA! Way to go! Lezlie said she was a little "starstruck" when she had the opportunity to talk with Jamie Lee Curtis at a local rec center. How exciting!
Shaneil was tired last night, but enjoying some quiet time after getting all her munchkins in bed for the night. I am anxious to see them when I stay with my dad next week while Brian and Ilean are out of town.

Memorial Day

Kelli, your dad and I had a busy, productive day. Kelli mowed our lawn and Neil mowed Pedro's across the street. We also targeted Kelli's bedroom and tackled different projects. Neil built a corner shelf for Kelli to use as a makeup center. Kelli took her mirror from the other bedroom, painted the edges brown to match her walls and I helped by painting the shelf brown to match. Neil secured the mirror with some hardware. He also hung the curtain rod across her closet for the curtains that I pieced together with a matching panel to her window curtains, and some chocolate brown curtains Emily had given us. I made a HUGE mistake when cutting a piece out and added some extra labor to the project, but they are done and hung and don't look all that bad, considering. Neil also hung Kelli's metal candle sconce holder and we went to Lowe's to get the eye hooks for her picture frames. We also did a little yard work, and celebrated with pizza for supper.
Trigger and Lalah (spelling?) survived their visit with us while Justin and Emily were at the Oregon Coast. We enjoyed some "howling" quartets when Quito and O'Malley joined them from time to time.
We hope everyone else had a great day and took time to remember those from our personal and national heritage who have left with a precious heritage to honor and build upon.

This "Blog" is SO COOL!!! I am really enjoying all the pictures and letters! Thank you all for your very thoughtful mother's day gifts and cards! I felt very pampered and appreciated on Sunday! How blessed I am to have such a wonderful family!
Allyson, Zach and Josie left earlier today after coming for a quick overnight visit. Yesenia Sueyras is in town working on her home across the street and Allyson came to help. I enjoyed "grandma duty" while she was here. Zach hung out while Josie helped water flowers, jump on the trampoline, "read" books to me and watch TV. I also enjoyed the opportunity to go to Ashley's soccer game on Saturday. She was awesome, assisting with two goals- the last one being in the final seconds of the game and the winning point! We had lunch at Subway (Ryan's treat) and it was fun to visit for awhile. Wish everyone could have joined us (Neil & I, Justin & Emily, Wade and Kelli) for supper on Sunday. Neil grilled pork chops and hamburgers to go with chips, salad, potatoes and sherbet. I put my feet up, read the paper and savored the moment! After dinner we played a rousing game of "Farkle" and congratulated Emily on her victory over a close second place to Wade.
